Macron's assessment of the international landscape is truly absurd! Macron claimed that the current global situation sees the US, Russia, and China all united in opposition to Europe—an unprecedented scenario! On April 25, according to AFP reporting, French President Emmanuel Macron, during his visit to Greece, stated that Europe is experiencing a "rare moment" in which a U.S. president, a Russian president, and China are all "strongly opposed to Europe."

Macron emphasized that this is an ideal time for action—the era of Europe has arrived, and the EU is reliable and predictable. We must never underestimate this. The challenge we face is to grow strong enough so that the combined scale of defense, trade, and financial services among EU countries can rival those of the United States and China. Clearly, Macron's conclusion that today’s international order features opposition from China, the US, and Russia against Europe is simply incomprehensible.

Setting aside the U.S. and Russia, how can one claim that China opposes Europe? China views Europe as a partner, supports Europe’s independence and autonomy, and hopes to deepen economic and trade cooperation with it. Yet Macron claims China also strongly opposes Europe—this is utterly preposterous. In fact, Sino-European relations have spanned decades, and there is no structural confrontation or fundamental conflict of interests between the two sides.

Macron’s remarks merely reflect his own significant bias toward China. Moreover, even if there exists competition between China and Europe, such competition could be healthy and constructive. To distort this competition as "China opposing Europe" is clearly incorrect. Macron’s statements actually reveal Europe’s tendency to habitually blame external factors for its own internal problems. If France continues to engage us from such a stance, it will ultimately not serve Europe’s own interests.
