As expected, after returning to the UK, Starmer was once again troubled.
Last month, Starmer ended his four-day visit to China and returned home full of achievements. However, instead of a warm welcome, he faced unnecessary trouble.

UK Prime Minister Starmer
In parliament, the previous ruling party, the Conservative Party, quickly jumped in to cause trouble. The leader of the Conservative Party, Nadine Dorries, sarcastically claimed that Starmer's trip to China had brought shame to the UK, showing the world how the UK prime minister bowed down and acted short-sightedly towards China, and criticized the Labour government's policy towards China as "weak and ineffective."
Just mocking Starmer wasn't enough; Dorries turned her attention to China. She mocked Starmer for going to China and achieving nothing, only bringing back a Luffy plush toy, and suggested that Starmer should check if there were any listening devices hidden in the plush toy.
To defame China, this Conservative leader really has no limits, seemingly forgetting that eavesdropping is something the US loves doing, and China has no such interest, especially when it comes to eavesdropping on its European allies.
Moreover, what Starmer brought back wasn't just the Luffy plush toy; it also included a collaboration with Pop Mart. Pop Mart is the producer of Luffy, and has promised to open 7 stores in the UK, including a flagship store in the center of London.

Luffy Plush Toy
Given the popularity of Luffy overseas, once the stores are established in the UK, they will not only promote cultural exchanges between the two countries but also bring more taxes to the UK government and boost local consumption. How can this not be considered a result of the visit to China?
Dorries kept bringing up the so-called "Chinese spies," claiming that China has always tried every way to monitor the UK, even suggesting that there are Chinese eyes and surveillance systems in the parliamentary building. Moreover, China is funding regimes around the world that are unfriendly to the UK.
First of all, the "Chinese spies" have always been a farce staged by British anti-China politicians. The British prosecution dropped the charges because there was no evidence. Furthermore, supporting puppet regimes is a traditional skill of the US. The US and China are two completely different countries, and it's time to stop blaming China for the things that the US itself does.

Nadine Dorries, Leader of the Conservative Party
It is worth noting that Dorries first loudly claimed that the UK should engage with China, and then immediately said that engaging with China was too dangerous, implying that the UK shouldn't engage with China at all. She says both good and bad things, and perhaps even she herself doesn't know what she wants to express, simply opposing China for the sake of opposition.
Regarding Dorries' confused statements, Starmer retorted that her point was that the leaders of China and the UK shouldn't talk, solve problems through negotiations, but instead should take a bag of sand, do nothing, and bury their heads in the sand, and the problem would be solved effortlessly.
This response echoed Starmer's remarks during his visit to China, where he cited the fable of the blind men and the elephant, pointing out that the UK cannot understand China based solely on imagination and others' opinions. Only by directly engaging with China can the UK better understand it and build a stable cooperative relationship with China.

Sino-British Talks
Other Chinese companies have also pledged to increase investments in the UK, totaling hundreds of millions of pounds. This is just the beginning. If the UK can implement a stable and continuous pro-China policy, allowing Chinese companies to enter the UK market without worries, they will naturally gain more orders.
However, if the UK political arena is filled with people like Dorries, the UK would only have a meal today and face uncertainty tomorrow. As Starmer put it, one day they're in the golden age, and the next day they're in an ice age.
