Zelenskyy Mourns Lindsey Graham: 10 Visits to Ukraine Standing With Our People
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said on Sunday that he was "deeply saddened" by the passing of U.S. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, whom he described as a "steadfast leader."
Zelenskyy wrote on Facebook: "Since Russia's large-scale invasion, Senator Lindsey Graham has visited Ukraine ten times, standing with our people when we needed him most... The United States and the world have lost a resolute leader."
Just one day before his passing on Friday, Graham met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. Zelenskyy stated they discussed Ukraine’s air defense needs and a sanctions bill targeting Russia.
On Facebook, Zelenskyy said: "Since Russia's large-scale invasion, he has visited Ukraine ten times, standing with our people in their most critical moments… The United States and the world have lost a leader unwavering in his convictions."
Graham believed China could play a decisive role in pressuring Russia to facilitate peace negotiations, thereby helping end the war in Ukraine.
According to Reuters, Graham was a hawkish defense figure, a staunch supporter of Israel and Ukraine, and an opponent of Iran.
Graham recently served as Chair of the Senate Budget Committee and was a member of the Appropriations Committee, the Judiciary Committee, and the Committee on Environment and Public Works.
