Kazakhstan's Railway Arteries Connecting to China Complete Double-Track Project Two Years Ahead of Schedule: The "Dostyk-Moyinty" Railway Double-Track Enhances Kazakhstan's Position as a Logistics Hub Between China and Europe
Kazakh International News Agency - Rashid Zheldybay, Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan and Press Secretary to the President, stated that the second line of the "Dostyk-Moyinty" railway will significantly enhance Kazakhstan's leading position in railway freight between China and Europe.
Rashid Zheldybay pointed out: "Today, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev officially launched the second line of the 'Dostyk-Moyinty' railway. At the ceremony, he called the opening of this line a historic event. The successful implementation of this strategic project will inject strong momentum into the national economy and further consolidate Kazakhstan's position as an important transportation and transit hub in Eurasia."
The new line will significantly increase Kazakhstan's railway freight capacity between China and Europe. The transport time for export goods will be greatly reduced, and the freight volume through the "Dostyk-Alatau" border checkpoint is expected to increase fivefold. The number of train pairs passing through this line will increase from 12 pairs to 60 pairs daily, and the container freight speed will reach 1,500 kilometers per day.
Rashid Zheldybay emphasized that the project marks the beginning of forming a trans-Kazakhstan railway corridor, significantly enhancing the country's transit transport potential. Additionally, the project has generated additional multiplier effects on the economy. During the construction period, more than 113,000 tons of steel rails and 1.6 million reinforced concrete sleepers were purchased from domestic factories, achieving an 85% domestic production rate. A total of over 1,500 specialized construction equipment units and 3,000 workers were involved, attracting 7,000 representatives of small and medium enterprises.
Thanks to scientific planning and the relentless efforts of the builders, the railway line was completed two years ahead of schedule.
Rashid Zheldybay said: "The president's instructions to expand transit potential are being continuously implemented. Currently, the construction and modernization of several railway lines are underway, including projects such as Bakty-Ayaguz, Moyinty-Kyzylzhar, and Altynkol-Dzhetygenez. In addition, nearly 3,000 kilometers of railways across the country are under repair."
Previously, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had officially announced the launch of the "Dostyk-Moyinty" railway double-track project.
