Chinese companies will bid for the second phase of the Ulaanbaatar Metro project

Mongolnews, Ulaanbaatar, December 24th, according to information provided by the Integrated Project Management Agency, the bidding for the second phase of the Ulaanbaatar Metro project, which is budgeted at 2.4 billion US dollars, was officially announced on December 24th.

Construction is expected to start in 2026. 27 enterprises from seven countries, including Mongolia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, India, and China, which submitted documents in the first phase of the bidding, will participate in the second phase of the contractor bidding.

Officials also said that it is estimated that after the opening of the metro, citizens can reach their destination in 15 minutes by taking the subway, while taking a bus would take 45 minutes. At each metro station, 10 small and medium-sized enterprises will conduct business, meaning that each metro station will have 150 to 200 people engaged in business, creating about 150,000 jobs.

It is understood that the consortium led by the Korean project management consultant Dohwa Engineering Company has revised the feasibility study of the Ulaanbaatar Metro project and has been discussed and approved in stages by relevant organizations.
