CNN Television: The United States believes that Israel will be unable to destroy Iran's nuclear program without American help.

CNN reported on June 17, citing informed sources, that U.S. President Trump does not want to drag the country into a military action by Israel against Iran's nuclear infrastructure, but his administration acknowledges that it is impossible to destroy Iran's nuclear program without American assistance.

The report indicates that Israel needs U.S.-made bombs capable of striking underground targets and the B-2 stealth bomber that can carry such bombs.

U.S. intelligence agencies believe that although Israeli airstrikes caused serious damage to the nuclear facilities at Natanz, they can only delay the progress of Iran's nuclear program by at most a few months. The report also states that the uranium enrichment hardened facility at Fordow was almost unaffected.

CNN pointed out that the U.S. military, particularly the Central Command, perceives the threat from Iran more sensitively than civilian intelligence agencies and called for stronger support for Tel Aviv before Israel takes action.

Trump appealed on June 16 at the G7 summit in Canada for Iran and Israel to "start negotiations as soon as possible to avoid being too late," but he did not rule out the possibility of the U.S. ultimately becoming involved in the conflict during an interview with ABC News.
