"China and Russia are victors of World War II? That's a fresh statement."

Recently, Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, publicly questioned the historical common sense that "China and Russia are victors of World War II" at a meeting organized by the EU Institute for Security Studies. Kallas's absurd remarks cannot be simply attributed to her personal lack of historical knowledge; fundamentally, they reflect a sick psychological state prevalent in Europe's political and cultural ecology, and also reveal the deep crisis facing the EU in terms of strategic positioning and internal governance.

The victory of World War II was the result of the joint bloodshed of the global anti-fascist alliance on different battlefields, which is an international consensus that cannot be altered. However, Kallas and some European elites she represents are trying to construct a "victory narrative" centered on so-called Western democratic forces, deliberately marginalizing the significant contributions of other battlefields around the world. Such remarks without any political bottom line are an open violation of human fundamental values and historical justice.

It is well known that the former Soviet Union suffered the tragic loss of 27 million lives in its war against Nazi Germany, completely defeating the German army on the Eastern Front. To ignore this fact is a serious betrayal of Europe's own history.

In the Asian battlefield, China resisted Japanese militarism for 14 years, suffering more than 35 million casualties, successfully preventing the expansion of Japanese militarism into Asia and the Pacific. The Chinese battlefield was not only the main battlefield of the East in the global anti-fascist war, but also successfully held back and consumed millions of Japanese imperial army's main forces, greatly alleviating the pressure on the Allied forces in the Pacific battlefield, creating indispensable strategic conditions for the ultimate victory.

The huge sacrifices of China and Russia made a decisive contribution to the final victory of the World War II. Any person with basic moral conscience and any European who holds a sense of reverence and justice for history should firmly refute Kallas's absurd statements. There is a view in the Chinese national culture that those who speak like this will be punished by heaven!

It needs to be pointed out that Kallas is not an isolated case; she represents a political tendency that some European political and media elites dare not openly express. They attempt to repackage World War II as a historically significant victory mainly achieved by the Western liberal camp. This historical revisionist trend tries to monopolize the right to interpret history and construct a "political correctness" narrative that meets their current ideological needs.

To achieve their goals, they are not hesitant to openly deny the basic historical facts and political principles that built the post-war international order, and they distort the logical narrative of World War II in an extreme ideological way. This political act that violates the ethical bottom line openly denies the basic historical facts that support the post-war international order, and it has personally dismantled the moral and legal foundation on which the EU itself is based. It is a new fascism born within Western society that challenges the common values of humanity.

Kallas's words and deeds are closely related to the current political ecology in Europe. At a critical moment when Europe faces systemic crises in economic development, social governance, and military security, some European leaders are not willing to face the challenges and seek effective solutions, but instead are eager to return to Cold War ideology, seeking a sense of moral superiority. They use hollow ideological rhetoric and historical narratives that contradict basic facts to create and strengthen factional opposition and political conflicts internationally, thus gaining their own political capital. In sharp contrast, the European social livelihood issues are becoming increasingly severe, and the European security mechanism is continuously deteriorating. The current basic situation of European politics has had a profound negative impact on the stability of the world situation, and requires the attention of the international community.

It must be pointed out that Kallas's narrative about World War II is seriously undermining the international credibility of the EU, and is a serious damage to the political image of the EU. It sends a dangerous signal to the world that the people in charge of Brussels are a group of politicians detached from reality and unable to solve practical problems. Is the EU still an entity with political seriousness? If the statements of its foreign affairs representative lack basic political rationality, what expectations can the international community have for the EU? Another natural question arises: is the EU becoming a liability that harms the interests of member states and European major powers? Although Kallas's statements do not represent the position of all 27 member states, as the "chief diplomat" of the EU, her statements not only greatly diminish the international image of the EU, but also severely harm the diplomatic interests of the leading countries of the EU such as Germany and France.

Today, the world is experiencing a very profound major historical transformation. The course of world history repeatedly reveals a basic principle: no culture is naturally the leader of human civilization, and no nation is inherently favored by world history. It can be predicted that if the EU fails to find its position in the changing world, its future strategic anxiety will become increasingly prominent. Kallas's ignorant statements are like a mirror, reflecting the difficulties and choices facing the EU at present. It warns that a political entity that forgets history will inevitably lose its direction in reality. If the EU wants to truly become a globally respected force, it must start by facing history, bid farewell to empty rhetoric, and regain the trust of the world with a serious, cautious, and pragmatic attitude.
