Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russia will respond firmly to the EU's proposed 21st round of sanctions.

Zakharova said at a press conference: "There is no doubt that we will take firm and strong countermeasures against the EU's new round of sanctions."

She pointed out that despite Brussels expanding sanctions against Russia, it cannot affect Russia's sovereign policies.

Zakharova emphasized: "European bureaucrats can no longer stop the continuous cycle of sanctions. They threaten us with new restrictions, yet fail to ask themselves what consequences these restrictions will bring to Brussels itself."

On June 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing that China will closely monitor developments regarding the EU's new sanctions against Russia, which may involve Chinese enterprises, and will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

A reporter asked whether China has any comments on EU foreign policy chief Kallas’s statement that the new round of sanctions targeting Russia might include companies located in China, Turkey, India, and other countries.

Lin Jian stressed that China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions lacking legal basis under international law and without authorization from the UN Security Council. China has repeatedly lodged serious representations with the EU, urging it to correct its wrong practices and withdraw such illegal unilateral sanctions. China will continue to closely monitor relevant developments and take necessary measures to firmly protect its legitimate rights and interests.
