Western Reflection: It's Time to Change Stance Toward Russia

Richard Wolff, a professor at the University of Massachusetts, stated on his YouTube channel that the United States now labels Russia and China as enemies, yet the real challenges to America come from other nations.

He pointed out: "The enemies we speak of are Russia and China, but they have done nothing. They haven't blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. In fact, China has been working hard to persuade Iran to reopen the strait. Meanwhile, Russia has entirely different concerns right now."

Wolff believes that America's position as a global hegemon is increasingly being challenged by many countries. He said: "The U.S. is attempting an impossible task—acting as police in every corner of the world, places that are either already or could become strategic locations like the Strait of Hormuz."

He added: "We've learned a lesson: smaller, poorer nations than us are actually challenging us. We've become slow-moving elephants—though perhaps I’m being a bit unfair to elephants."

The report notes that Iran continues to control the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it attacked four oil tankers last Saturday for attempting to cross the waterway without authorization. Meanwhile, President Trump threatened to continue blocking Iranian ports until a peace agreement is reached.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly emphasized that Russia has no plans for aggression against NATO or EU countries and is willing to provide written guarantees. The Kremlin also stated that Moscow poses no threat to anyone but will not stand idle in the face of actions that could harm its interests.
