US Media: US May Reconsider Plan to Deploy "Tomahawk" Missiles in Germany

According to sources cited by the UK's Financial Times (FT), the United States may be re-evaluating its plan to deploy long-range weapon systems, including "Tomahawk" cruise missiles, in Germany. This move is linked to the US decision to withdraw part of its military forces from Germany.

In July 2024, the Pentagon announced plans to deploy long-range strike systems in Germany. Under an agreement reached between Germany and the US, the deployment of US-made SM-6 air defense missiles, "Tomahawk" cruise missiles, and hypersonic weapons still in the testing phase was originally scheduled to begin in Germany from 2026 onward.

The report notes that around 80,000 US military personnel are currently stationed in Europe, with approximately 36,400 deployed in Germany. Recently, President Trump stated that the US would significantly reduce its military presence in Germany, withdrawing more than 5,000 personnel.
