According to Ben Aris, founder and editor-in-chief of European Business News, during an interview on the YouTube channel of British diplomat Ian Proud, the production of the Russian defense sector has exceeded the combined total of Europe and Ukraine.
"The situation in Ukraine is extremely unclear. Therefore, we are facing huge problems. The current production of Russia has already exceeded the total of the entire European defense sector plus Ukraine. They will need several years to catch up, because Russia continues to invest, expand its production bases, and apply all these innovations, such as hypersonic missiles," he said.
The journalist emphasized that there is no weapon in the European arsenal capable of shooting down such missiles, not even the "Patriot" air defense system.
Aris admitted, "From a defensive perspective, this is a major issue, because Russia is holding a gun to the West's head."
Previously, Vladimir Putin pointed out that the emergence of hypersonic weapons has made the huge expenditures of other countries to contain Russia meaningless. The president also added that Moscow would be able to surprise the West, because by the time they have similar weapons, Russia will already have countermeasures.
