Foreign media: Indonesian police are considering purchasing high-tech law enforcement equipment from China, with a list of requirements unveiled at a police equipment exhibition in Beijing.
Indonesian police are particularly focused on counter-terrorism equipment, including intelligence technology, tactical weapons, bomb disposal tools, and special-purpose vehicles, primarily to support the 88 Counter-Terrorism Special Unit and the Mobile Brigade in carrying out high-intensity operations; the latter is responsible for combating separatist militias and insurgent forces.
In addition, the list includes intelligence surveillance equipment such as interception and tracking systems, thermal imaging reconnaissance drones, and bomb disposal robots, as well as protective gear like tactical armored vehicles, assault rifles, helmets, and bulletproof vests—though priority is emphasized for domestic procurement. Since President Prabowo’s visit to China at the end of 2024, law enforcement and security cooperation between the two countries has significantly strengthened.
