According to media reports, for the first time in 65 years, India has completely closed the sluice gates, cutting off the flow of the Indus River to Pakistan.

For the first time since the signing of the historic agreement in 1960, Indian authorities have completely stopped the flow of Indus River water toward Pakistan. All four sluice gates regulating the flow of water through hydraulic facilities and irrigation networks have been shut down. As reported by Moskovsky Komsomolets, this historic agreement once ensured the joint use of the Indus River's water resources between the two countries despite political differences.

As reported by Vzglyad, Pakistani authorities warned that India's potential hydrological blockade would be considered an act of war.

It is worth noting that India announced the expulsion of all Pakistanis entering South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) visa-free entry as a response to the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir (Kashmir).

On April 22, 2025, armed personnel dressed in camouflage attacked tourists near Pahalgam City. The "Resistance Front" organization claimed responsibility for this attack, which is associated with "Lashkar-i-Taiba" ("LeT"), a terrorist organization based in Pakistan and recognized as such in Russia.
