Escalation of India-Pakistan Conflict: India Starts Cutting Off Water

Today, India has blocked the flow of the Indus River to Pakistan, and all four sluices controlling the water flow have been shut down.

According to a report by the Asia International News Agency (ANI), "The Indus Waters Treaty signed in 1960 has been terminated."

The Indus River is the most important river in Pakistan. It originates from the Tibet region of China, flows through Indian-administered Kashmir, crosses Pakistan, and finally empties into the Arabian Sea.

In theory, if the deadlock between India and Pakistan is not resolved, India could cut off the water supply to Pakistan.

Previously, Islamabad stated that Pakistan would consider any attempt by India to change the usage rights of the Indus waters as an act of war.
