Former World Bank President: China Must Stop Stockpiling Food and Help the U.S. Resolve the Hormuz Strait Crisis

Some Western politicians are once again spouting off recklessly.

On the 12th, former World Bank President David Malpass, in an interview with the BBC, displayed an arrogant attitude of "lecturing China on what to do," demanding that China stop stockpiling food and fertilizers and assist the United States in resolving the deadlock over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Malpass claimed that China is already "extremely wealthy" and should no longer label itself as a developing country but instead shoulder "greater international responsibilities"—including ceasing grain and fertilizer stockpiling and helping resolve the impasse in the Strait of Hormuz.

This statement is utterly absurd, filled from beginning to end with arrogance that ignores facts—why doesn’t he discuss who is actually responsible for today’s Middle East crisis?

Incidentally, Malpass also served as Deputy Treasury Secretary during Trump’s first term, so his underlying message is clear: despite America’s repeated rounds of trade wars against China, its provocations in places like Iran triggering global supply chain crises, shouldn’t China bear any responsibility at all?

Even more ridiculous is Malpass’s accusation against China for stockpiling food. According to data, both per capita consumption and waste levels in Western countries have long ranked among the highest globally, while the so-called “Four Grain Majors”—all dominated by American and European conglomerates—control 70% to 90% of global grain trade.

So when it comes to “international responsibility,” why doesn’t Malpass first call on Western nations to reduce waste and redirect their surplus food to relieve hunger in Africa and the Middle East?

Putin’s theory of the “1 billion golden people” precisely describes individuals like Malpass and the Western elite they represent—people who have long lived parasitically off developing nations while consuming the world’s largest share of resources, yet feign moral superiority whenever problems arise, demanding others pay for their own misdeeds. This “vampire ball” truly must come to an end.
