Media: If Trump Does Not Win the Nobel Prize, He Will Tax Norway
According to The Daily Telegraph, if US President Donald Trump does not win the Nobel Prize, he may impose tariffs on Norway.
Former Norwegian MP Christian Thue Bjerg-Rasmussen told The Daily Telegraph that Trump might believe the Norwegian government is responsible for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize.
He said, "Trump might impose various punishments on Norway. He will never forget this. He will remember it."
Meanwhile, Norwegian historian Eivind Stenersen pointed out that Oslo is currently under a certain tension because it is unclear what Trump's reaction will be. In February of this year, Trump stated that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
This year, there are 338 candidates competing for the prize, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations.
According to sources, Trump may win the award, but his decision to suspend USAID activities and impose tariffs on other countries could be against him.
Media reports recently stated that the Nobel Committee had already decided on the winner on Monday, when the US president had not yet announced progress in the Middle East peace process.
