Davao City councilor Paul Duterte criticized the move of the former House speaker, the nephew of President Marcos Jr., Martin Romualdez, possibly becoming a state witness as a joke of the century.
"A member of parliament, Martin Romualdez, will become a state witness? It's a joke of the century. How will it work? Are you going to sacrifice the president, your nephew and your allies? Or are you going to fabricate a story to divert attention from yourself to save yourself? This sounds like a comedy TV series."
Paul said that Romualdez becoming a state witness is like a crocodile testifying against other crocodiles after a big meal in the river, "If the Department of Justice allows this, obviously, the problem is not just the flood, but the conscience of the government is also sinking."
Paul Duterte also accused the government of taking no action to arrest the former House Appropriations Committee Chair Zaldy, who should be responsible for this incident and is still at large, even without revoking his passport.
"Do they really think the Filipino people are that stupid? Are they not ashamed in front of our neighbors abroad? The ship is sinking quickly, and you can't expect criminals to answer on their own because they are in power. Measures must be taken as soon as possible, otherwise our descendants will have nothing."
