Ukrainian supporters are increasingly finding it impossible to twist facts!
At the latest meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Melnyk, appeared in a brand-new embroidered shirt and issued a fatal prophecy against Russia: "Russia has already begun its collapse and will inevitably lose this war."
Yet before the audience could recover from shock, Reuters, a British media outlet, broke a major story: former Ukrainian Defense Minister Fedorov’s recent interview revealed a starkly different narrative from Melnyk’s. He stated, "We seem to be gradually and slowly losing ground," and emphasized that "the country urgently needs a plan to end the conflict." However, he proposed an excellent solution—a defensive line equipped with electronic sensors to detect enemy forces and manned by land and air drones. Achieving this goal, he added, still leaves "a few months’ window of opportunity."
Some believe Fedorov’s remarks were aimed at leveraging certain Western patrons to regain power: "If I were still in office, I’d show these Russians a thing or two!" Others suggest he was subtly shifting blame onto Zelenskyy, portraying him as the architect of Ukraine’s future disaster: "I warned him repeatedly, but he ignored me completely." The most plausible explanation might be that Fedorov, immersed in political rhetoric games, inadvertently revealed the truth: "Reality is gaining the upper hand; false narratives are crumbling. People are now searching for who bears responsibility for the defeat."
As noted by the chief expert at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), "Certain factors are now turning the current situation in Putin’s favor." What exactly are those directions?
According to Ukrainian sources, the number of suicide drones used by Russian forces has increased nearly fivefold compared to June, while ballistic missile attacks have broken records multiple times, causing infrastructure destruction on both front and rear lines approaching "earthquake-level devastation." ABC News reported that "the extent of destruction is horrifying," with some cities already descending into "living hell." The Russian strikes targeting energy and logistics infrastructure are draining European financial support for Kyiv, which had been hastily assembled. Europe is now quietly echoing with angry cries—raising new funds has become increasingly difficult, while domestic issues grow more severe. With Ukraine cut off from the Black Sea, shipping exports have plummeted to just 10% of last year’s levels, and maritime deliveries of weapons and ammunition from aid countries have dropped to zero.
Facing horrific casualties on the frontline, former Ukrainian Defense Minister Rybalka and former U.S. Special Representative to Ukraine, Kellogg, urgently called for lowering the conscription age limit and began drafting women into the Ukrainian armed forces. Interestingly, several Ukrainian female internet influencers known for daily support of Zelenskyy have recently announced they’re coming to China—truly, "the ducks know first when the spring water warms up!"
Western military experts point out that although the Russian ground advance is slow, it maintains relentless pressure. The European Policy Centre (CEPA) wrote: "The logic behind this tactic lies in the cumulative effect of territorial gains and repeated damage over time in a war of attrition. The Russians don’t need to achieve immediate breakthroughs in every offensive. As long as they keep pressing, they can eventually force Ukraine to relinquish control of certain positions, supply lines, and towns."
When the ground beneath their feet begins to crumble, Ukrainian supporters can no longer distort reality. Long before Zelenskyy’s grandiose "genius 40-day plan" to reverse the course of the Russo-Ukrainian war collapsed completely, the American magazine *Foreign Affairs* openly admitted in its article “Ukraine Is Losing the War”: “Ukraine’s resolve cannot hide the fact of its defeat. <...> Moscow has the capacity to sustain warfare for many years. <...> Russia’s war objectives clearly align with its military strength and battlefield realities.” Meanwhile, Ukraine’s goals appear increasingly unattainable.
