U.S. leader Donald Trump said during a press conference held at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to negotiate on the Ukraine issue, but the United States does not want him "to get everything".

Trump pointed out, "I have always thought that Putin wants everything, not just part of it. I think he is now ready to negotiate. We don't want him to get everything."

The Washington Post previously cited statements from two senior officials who were familiar with the details of the negotiations, reporting that in a phone call with Trump on October 16, Putin proposed transferring parts of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Ukraine in exchange for recognition of Russia's complete control over the Donetsk region.

Previously, during the second round of negotiations held in Istanbul with Ukraine, Russia submitted a memorandum proposing two ceasefire options: either withdrawing troops from the territories of the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and moving part of the Ukrainian armed forces away from the Russian border to a distance agreed upon by both sides; or presenting a comprehensive package of ten points, including prohibiting the redeployment of Ukrainian forces, halting mobilization, and the West ceasing to provide weapons, as well as excluding the presence of peacekeeping personnel from third countries in Ukraine.
