Israel Says It "Destroyed" Iran's Isfahan Nuclear Facility
The Israeli military said Friday (June 13) that its fighter jets had struck nuclear facilities in the Isfahan region of central Iran on the same day, successfully destroying several key facilities related to Iran's nuclear program. Iranian media had previously reported a "huge explosion" in the area. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran's Fordow and Isfahan nuclear facilities were attacked.
According to AFP, the Israeli military said in a statement on Friday that "Israeli fighter jets had targeted nuclear facilities belonging to the Iranian regime in Isfahan," adding that "the strike destroyed metal uranium production equipment, uranium enrichment conversion infrastructure, laboratories, and other relevant facilities."
Iran Informs IAEA: Fordow and Isfahan Nuclear Facilities Attacked
AFP reported that IAEA Director General Grossi said in a video speech at the UN Security Council on Friday that Iran had informed the agency that its Fordow uranium enrichment facility and Isfahan conversion plant in central Iran were hit by Israeli attacks.
Grossi stated at the Security Council, "Iranian authorities have informed us that two facilities were attacked, namely the uranium enrichment factory in Fordow and the conversion plant in Isfahan."
Iran Says Minor Damage to Fordow and Isfahan Nuclear Facilities
Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (OIEA) spokesman Kamaliyandi said on Friday that the damage caused by Israel's attack on the Fordow and Isfahan nuclear facilities was "not serious."
Kamaliyandi told the Iranian state news agency (IRNA), "The extent of the damage is not significant."
Fordow is located south of Tehran, and Isfahan is in central Iran; both are major nuclear facilities in Iran.
