Foreign media: The world's largest drone manufacturer, DJI, has filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to challenge the decision of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) banning its products.
This ban was made last December, prohibiting DJI and another Chinese drone company, Autel, as well as other foreign drone companies from obtaining FCC certification, thus preventing them from selling new drones and key components in the U.S., but existing models can continue to be sold.
DJI stated in a statement that the FCC's decision "hastily restricted DJI's business in the U.S., depriving American consumers of the right to access the latest technology." The FCC did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This ban marks a significant escalation in the U.S.'s ongoing efforts to suppress Chinese-made drones in recent years.
