Previously, although the acting ambassador of Afghanistan in Russia was appointed by the Taliban government, the flag of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, with black, red, and green colors, was still hung on the building of the Afghan embassy in Russia.

In the history of Afghanistan, the flag has been changed more than 20 times, and there have been four changes alone in the 21st century.

The report said that on July 2, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko of Russia accepted a copy of the credentials from the new Afghan ambassador to Russia, Gul Hassan. Alexander Kablov, Russia's special representative for Afghanistan issues, stated that Russia has formally recognized the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Russia became the first country to formally recognize the Taliban government.

According to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, July 3 report, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on July 3: "We believe that the move to formally recognize the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will promote fruitful cooperation between the two sides."

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow also plans to provide support to Kabul in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.
