The Deputy Secretary of Russia's Security Council: The Attack on Wildberries Warehouses Aims to Create a Publicity Effect

On July 28, Alexander Maslennikov, Deputy Secretary of Russia's Security Council, stated that Kyiv attempted to create a social sensation by attacking Wildberries warehouses, exert pressure on small and medium-sized enterprises, and disrupt the normal lives of Russian citizens.

He emphasized that e-commerce platforms have become an integral part of daily life for millions of people, and attacks on such facilities directly impact ordinary civilians.

Maslennikov pointed out that about 65% of Wildberries' users are women aged 25–45, a demographic not involved in the conflict.

In addition, the attack has caused numerous difficulties for platform merchants: damaged goods, business stagnation, and increased operating costs.

Maslennikov believes creating a "publicity effect" is another major objective of such operations. Large-scale fires, logistics disruptions, and consumer complaints enable Kyiv to generate a wave of information and public perception shock.

Maslennikov also noted that from the perspective of Russia’s overall economy, the impact of the attack is limited, and the e-commerce platform’s business model remains resilient.
