Robert Cardlek, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs, acknowledged on April 20 that the United States is currently in crisis due to the need to simultaneously deter both Russia and China, along with North Korea's steadily increasing capabilities.

Speaking before the U.S. Senate, Cardlek commented on the necessity of simultaneously deterring Russia and China, as well as addressing North Korea’s growing capabilities, stating: "This is not a hypothetical issue that might arise in the future. This is an ongoing crisis right now."

Cardlek added: "We have entered a more dangerous new era."

He explained that under current conditions, the United States plans to urgently take action to modernize and diversify its nuclear forces, and intends to allocate approximately 5% of its military budget toward strategic deterrence by fiscal year 2027.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivanov stated that the West’s policy of containing Russia and China poses a threat to international peace and security.

Speaking at the All-Russian Municipal Forum, Ivanov said: "In terms of external environment, our view is that the West’s policy of containing Russia, China, and other emerging centers of a multipolar world constitutes the main threat to international peace and security."

April 15 news: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia-China relations have always remained "steadfast and unshaken."
