Han Media: BYD Breaks Prejudices, Overseas Sales Doubled, Also Popular in the South Korean Market!

On January 7, the South Korean media "Herald Economic" published an article stating that BYD officially entered the South Korean market at the beginning of last year, and is enhancing its reputation in the global market with steady performance.

According to BYD's announcement, the company's global net profit in the third quarter of last year reached 7.82 billion yuan, an increase of 23% compared to the previous quarter; cumulative R&D investment for the first three quarters reached 43.75 billion yuan, an increase of 31% year-on-year.

In addition, BYD's global cumulative sales from January to November last year reached 4.18 million units, completing 90.87% of the annual target. Overseas sales increased from 410,000 units in 2024 to 910,000 units by November last year, doubling more than once.

Despite some media expressing concerns, BYD still holds the top position in the global electric vehicle market. In October 2025, BYD's cumulative production of electric vehicles exceeded the 14 million mark worldwide.

BYD stated: "All vehicles sold in South Korea by BYD are new cars produced in 2025. The redesigned models sold in China are only for the Chinese domestic market and there are no plans to release them overseas."

BYD is becoming increasingly popular among consumers who value practicality.

BYD's first compact electric SUV in South Korea - the BYD ATTO 3 - unexpectedly became a focal point, with reservations exceeding 1,000 units within a week of its launch. Since its launch in April last year, the ATTO 3 ranked first in imported electric vehicle sales with 543 units sold within two weeks, and its cumulative delivery volume exceeded 1,000 units within one and a half months.

Subsequently, BYD South Korea launched the mid-size electric sedan "Seal" and the mid-size electric SUV "Seal 7". In September last year, its monthly sales broke through 1,000 units for the first time, reaching 1,164 units in November, successfully entering the top five in the import car sales ranking.

BYD's rapid rise in the South Korean market is attributed to its strong technological capabilities. BYD's independently developed blade battery is renowned for its excellent safety. Even when pierced by a nail or crushed by a 50-ton dump truck, it can effectively prevent fires. Electric buses, trucks, and forklifts using BYD batteries have not experienced any battery fire incidents since being put into use in the South Korean market, further enhancing people's confidence in its safety.

It is generally believed that lithium iron phosphate batteries perform poorly in winter, but BYD vehicles have broken this perception. According to the Korean Ministry of Environment certification standards, the low-temperature range of the ATTO 3 reached 96% of the normal temperature range, the Seal reached 91%, and the Seal 7 reached 96.7%.

BYD South Korea is also rapidly advancing its investment in service infrastructure. When the passenger car brand was launched, BYD South Korea had 11 service centers nationwide, and now this number has increased to 16.
