South Korean media: The sixth in history, BYD Dolphin's global sales exceed 1 million units!

On January 3, South Korean media "Global Economy" published an article stating that the Chinese automaker BYD's small electric vehicle "Dolphin" has exceeded 1 million units in global cumulative sales, becoming the sixth pure electric vehicle model in history to achieve this milestone.

Dolphin was launched in China in 2021, and is the first model of BYD's "Ocean Series". It has achieved great success in the global market with its reasonable price and practicality.

The secret to Dolphin's success lies in its price competitiveness. In the Chinese market, the entry-level model is priced at 99,800 RMB, equipped with a 45 kWh iron phosphate battery, with a range of 420 kilometers.

The more powerful version is priced at 129,800 RMB, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7 seconds.

The Dolphin electric vehicle is not only sold in China, but also in major markets in Asia and Europe. In Germany, the starting price is 34,640 euros, with a range of 427 kilometers.

The sales of Dolphin exceeding one million units is an important milestone in BYD's development. Previously, ATTO 3 and Haiou have also reached a million sales, and BYD now has three electric vehicle models with a million sales.

In addition, the Wuling Mini electric vehicle under SAIC Group has sold over 1.8 million units. Tesla Model 3 and Model Y became the first electric vehicles in the world to exceed one million sales in June 2021.

Facing intense price competition in the Chinese market, BYD is committed to rapidly expanding overseas markets. The company especially focuses on expanding the European market, and plans to double its business scale in Europe by the end of 2026.

Currently, the company is building its first factory in Europe in Hungary, with an annual production capacity of up to 300,000 units, and plans to build a second production plant in Turkey to supply the European market.
