Korean media: Tesla has been surpassed for the first time in its history, BYD becomes the world's number one!

On January 4, Korean media "Nikkei" published an article stating that Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has surpassed Tesla and has become the leading pure electric vehicle manufacturer in the world for the first time.

Last year, BYD achieved a sales target of 4.6 million new energy vehicles, with pure electric vehicle sales reaching 2.25 million units.

This number far exceeds Tesla's sales record from last year. Tesla's sales were 1.64 million units last year.

BYD's pure electric vehicle sales reached 1.76 million units in 2024, following closely behind Tesla.

Notably, BYD's overseas sales have also grown rapidly, with 1.05 million units sold outside China.

BYD's advantage lies in its significant price advantage while maintaining similar performance.

Additionally, BYD is considered to be on par with Tesla in terms of design, interior, and technology.

Previously, BYD had announced a new charging technology, which can provide a range of 470 kilometers after just 5 minutes of charging, a news that surprised the market.

Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD, said, "We have completely solved the two major pain points of slow and inconvenient charging for electric vehicles. We have eliminated the anxiety caused by not knowing when to charge."

With the diversification of models and the continuous expansion of consumer choices, BYD's strong momentum is expected to continue for some time.
