Media: Pentagon Studying Military Action Plans Against Cuba, Including Landing Operations
According to Western media citing multiple U.S. officials, the Pentagon has recently been examining several contingency plans for potential military action against Cuba, including large-scale amphibious landing operations.
The report states: "In recent weeks, U.S. military strategists have been assessing a range of potential operations targeting the island (Cuba), including a landing assault led by the Army involving thousands of U.S. troops, which is planned to be executed by the 101st Airborne Division."
The report notes that at a routine press briefing at the end of June, U.S. forces discussed preliminary plans for several potential military missions. However, sources emphasized that these discussions do not indicate that President Trump or the Pentagon have decided to launch a military operation against Cuba.
The analysis suggests that any military action by the United States against Cuba would face significant challenges, as Washington's current focus and much of its most critical offensive capabilities are already concentrated elsewhere. Sources told the outlet that given the recent resumption of military readiness for potential strikes against Iran, shifting strategic focus to Cuba at this stage is highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, the United States has significantly increased political and economic pressure on Cuba in recent times. In January this year, Trump signed an executive order authorizing additional import tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba, and declared a state of emergency under the pretext of a "Cuban threat to U.S. national security."
