Russian Deputy Prime Minister: Russia Plans to Include Ningbo Port in the China-Russia Trade Expansion Cooperation Initiative
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko stated that Russia is prepared to include Ningbo Port in the related initiatives aimed at expanding trade with China.
Chernyshenko is currently on a working visit to China. During his stay in Ningbo, he visited Ningbo Zhoushan Port - the world's largest port by cargo throughput and a leader in promoting "smart" logistics management technology in China.
Chernyshenko pointed out: "We are committed to practical cooperation and achieving concrete results. Russia is willing to include Ningbo Port in the strategic initiative for the expansion of China-Russia trade and diversification of export routes, which also includes the development of the Arctic shipping route."
The deputy prime minister added that developing the Arctic shipping route is a promising direction for China-Russia cooperation.
According to the port authorities, the total cargo throughput of Ningbo Zhoushan Port in 2024 has exceeded 1.37 billion tons. The main cargo types include petroleum, coal, iron ore, grain, liquid chemicals, and container cargo. The port maintains shipping connections with more than 600 ports in 190 countries, ensuring a stable international logistics network.
