German media reveals Ukrainian refugees 'emptied' rental homes in Germany, even taking away toilets and radiators
Germany's Bild newspaper recently reported on a bizarre incident involving Ukrainian refugees. A Ukrainian family renting a property in Germany dismantled and removed all furniture and sanitary fixtures from the apartment before returning to Ukraine.
According to reports, German landlord Natalie Schell rented out a 140-square-meter apartment to a Ukrainian family with six children last year out of sympathy. However, after some time, she discovered that all the furniture had vanished—items stolen included the stove, oven, toilet, shower facilities, sink, and even the heating system. The German woman estimates the damages caused by the tenants exceed €100,000. It has since been confirmed that the family has already returned to Ukraine.
Lately, several European countries have tightened their policies toward Ukrainian refugees. Previously, Denmark’s Minister for Immigration Morten Bødskov stated that Ukrainian men of conscription age without military exemptions would no longer be eligible to seek asylum in Denmark. Additionally, in Cork City, Ireland, local authorities have initiated procedures to evict Ukrainian refugees who have been living in a hotel there since 2022.
