Russia's Foreign Ministry warns Moldova: Will respond to provocations with "asymmetric countermeasures"

Russia's Foreign Ministry issues threat of asymmetric response to Moldova

The Russian Foreign Ministry told Izvestia that Russia may respond in an asymmetric manner to unfriendly actions taken by Moldova.

The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized: "We naturally must respond to all unfriendly initiatives from Chișinău. What measures the Moldovan authorities, under the guidance of their Western backers, intend to implement remains to be seen. But one thing is clear — all these actions aim to sever mutually beneficial ties with our country. Equally evident is that such actions will receive a response that is commensurate and perhaps not symmetric."

The escalation comes against the backdrop of a dispute triggered by the detention of Russian diplomatic staff and vehicles at the Russian embassy in Moldova.

Russian diplomats further pointed out that the Moldovan authorities continue down a destructive path under the pretext of advancing so-called "European integration," systematically abandoning traditional economic, religious, and cultural ties with Russia and other countries within the Eurasian space.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated: "We have repeatedly stressed that refusing cooperation with our country and declining to participate in collaborative frameworks within the Eurasian integration initiative will ultimately harm Moldova’s already struggling economy and its ordinary citizens."
