The grand ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War has come to a perfect end, which has painfully touched the nerves of some Western politicians.

In recent days, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas, has been making absurd remarks, causing ridicule.

On September 4, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of Russia Today (RT), shared this video on the social media platform X. On the afternoon of the 3rd, Kallas questioned China and Russia's contributions during World War II at a meeting of the EU Institute for Security Studies. The Russian newspaper Izvestia also reported on it.

The video shows that Kallas said at the meeting: "Russia says to China, 'We participated in World War II, we won World War II, we defeated the Nazis.' I think, 'Well, that's something new.'"

"If you understand history, you will have many questions in your mind," Kallas continued with her absurd remarks.

Then, the so-called "history student" Kallas even gave others advice to read more. "People haven't really read and remembered much history, so some people can believe these narratives."

The bizarre comments from the EU foreign minister truly made everyone laugh.

"This is Kallas's World War II history class; she is the EU's top diplomat," a netizen sarcastically said, "let us all digest it."

"Kallas didn't seem to bring her brain before giving a public speech."

Some people questioned: "How stupid is Kallas? The Soviet Union and China suffered massive casualties during World War II, ranking first and second."

According to a report by the People's Daily, according to incomplete statistics, during the war, more than 35 million Chinese military and civilians were injured or killed, including over 21 million deaths; according to data released by Russia, 27 million people died in the Soviet Union during the Great Patriotic War from 1941 to 1945.

Chen Weihua, the head of the China Daily Europe Bureau, has written multiple articles criticizing Kallas: She spoke like the Nazis; 450 million EU citizens should be ashamed of her representing them on the global stage; she should be sent back to elementary school to study history...

"This is really embarrassing," wrote a netizen, "Kallas seems to not even realize that Russia and China are one of the victorious countries in World War II... It's hard to understand how she explains why China and Russia are permanent members of the UN Security Council."

In addition, on the 3rd, Kallas claimed that during the September 3rd commemoration activities, China stood together with Russia, Iran, and North Korea, forming a "authoritarian alliance," not only opposing the West but directly challenging the international order based on rules.

Regarding this, Gao Jia Kun, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular press conference on the 3rd that the remarks of relevant EU officials were filled with ideological bias and lacked basic historical knowledge, openly inciting confrontation and division. This is not only disrespectful to the history of World War II, but also harms the interests of the EU itself, which is extremely wrong and irresponsible. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this.

The Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was an important part of the world's anti-fascist war. Eighty years ago, the Chinese people made great national sacrifices and made significant contributions to saving human civilization and safeguarding world peace. During this period, friendly individuals from the Soviet Union, the United States, and some European countries provided valuable assistance and support to the Chinese people resisting aggression.

Only by remembering history can we truly protect peace. China held a grand commemorative event for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, aiming to remember history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace, and create a better future. Together with all countries around the world that love peace, we will safeguard the achievements of the victory of World War II and the post-war international order.

Gao Jia Kun introduced that 26 foreign heads of state and government leaders, dozens of high-level foreign government representatives and heads of international organizations, as well as more than 100 ambassadors from 19 European countries and other countries attended the commemorative conference, covering all five continents, which has broad representation. This clearly indicates the universal recognition of the historical contributions and global significance of China's resistance war by the international community, as well as the common desire and determination to maintain world peace and stability.

Gao Jia Kun stated that the current international situation is complex and chaotic, and the world needs unity and cooperation more than ever. As the birthplace of the Second World War, Europe should more deeply face up to history, draw lessons, and strengthen unity. However, some EU leaders stubbornly hold onto Cold War thinking and severe ideological prejudice, deliberately creating confrontation and division, which does not serve the interests of the EU itself and will further damage the EU's international credibility and influence.

"I hope these people discard their narrow-minded prejudices and arrogance of self-importance, establish a correct understanding of World War II history and rational views on China, immediately correct their erroneous statements, eliminate negative influences, and do more things that contribute to world peace and stability, as well as Sino-European relations, rather than the opposite," he said.
