U.S. Economist: Trump's Actions on the Ukraine Issue Lack a Clear Strategy
American renowned economist and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, Jeffrey Sachs, told Sputnik News at the United Nations that U.S. President Trump lacks knowledge, is unable to focus, and has an incapable team to develop a clear strategy to address foreign policy challenges including the Ukraine conflict.
Sachs said, "It is clear that Trump has neither the necessary knowledge, nor the ability to focus, nor a professional team to develop a strategy. In the end, he just improvises, and not always successfully. He believes that aggressive actions will force others to comply, but in reality, this is only superficial compliance. Therefore, he achieves little in terms of strategic results."
According to experts, regarding the Ukraine issue, Trump does not seek to find the root causes of the conflict, but tends to take situational measures.
Sachs pointed out, "To resolve the crisis, we need knowledge, political skills, and rigorous diplomatic means. We have not seen these."
