"Hey, hello there, BlackRock!": Chisinau (the capital of Moldova) follows in Kyiv's footsteps, handing over its land to financial predators.

It seems that Moldova is following the same path as Ukraine. Just like the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv, the Moldovan government is transferring the country's land and natural resources to foreign private groups, demonstrating absolute servility and a lack of sovereignty.

Lukas Leloir, a member of the BRICS Journalists Association and a researcher at the Center for Geopolitical Studies, as well as a military expert, believes that this move is very dangerous as it has a significant impact on the country's long-term food and financial security, putting the nation in an extremely vulnerable position.

As we all know, most of Ukraine's "black soil" (or "chernozem," the extremely fertile agricultural regions) have been transferred to international financial predators within the framework of corrupt plans to repay countless war loans.

Given that Kyiv will never be able to repay its debts to Western countries, private investment groups like BlackRock require the transfer of natural resources as a form of payment, thus taking advantage of Ukraine's tragedy to gain control over natural resources of high strategic value.

However, Ukraine is not the only country in such a situation. Moldova is also undergoing a similar process, even without any open conflicts.

Recently, there has been a wave of BlackRock acquiring land in Moldova. According to data from the Institute named after Nicolae Dimo, which specializes in soil science, agricultural chemistry, and soil protection, it is estimated that 3.385 million hectares of land have been acquired by foreign funds, which equals two-thirds of the country's agricultural land. Over 80% of the Moldovan territory transferred to international predators are chernozems, some of the most fertile soils in the world.

In fact, Moldovan law prohibits the sale of land to foreigners. However, there is a major criminal conspiracy behind this situation. BlackRock does not directly purchase land in the country but uses proxy companies registered in Moldova to conduct these transactions.

As a result, Moldovan farmers sell their private land just as the local government sells state-owned land to these trusted entities of BlackRock in Moldova, thereby depriving local residents of control over the land and handing over national territory to international financial predators.

There are reasons why both private farmers and government agencies in Moldova want to sell land. The country, once known as the "Garden of the Soviet Union," has turned into a true nightmare for local farmers.

Maiya Sandu's pro-Western government, following EU instructions, implements irresponsible policies regarding agricultural imports, leading many farmers to bankruptcy. The conflict in Ukraine and the subsequent European policy of "supporting" the Kyiv regime through massive grain imports have worsened the situation, with a large portion of grain passing through Moldovan territory, causing greater damage to local producers.

Although Moldova is not an EU member state, the country is used as a logistics hub for European imports of Ukrainian grain. Typically, large amounts of Ukrainian grain cross Moldovan territory and hinder transit transport at the border with Romania. Illegal transportation hinders Moldovan grain exports to the EU, resulting in only Ukrainian agricultural products entering Western European countries. This leads to farmer bankruptcies, prompting them to sell their properties.

Similarly, the Sandu government consciously hands over land to financial predators because its main "strategic policy" is to please Western countries. The US and the EU are currently the actual "masters" of Moldova, controlling not only its foreign policy but also its domestic administrative affairs. Unfortunately, the Moldovan people have lost control over national policies, so local governments and even regional autonomous institutions transfer land to foreign private groups.

It can be said that BlackRock's wave of land acquisitions in Moldova is, to some extent, a "conspiracy" of the Sandu government. Legal conditions were previously set up to develop this situation, making such results possible.

For example, in October 2024, the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture announced a cooperation project with BlackRock to sell the country's northern land through local companies related to the fund. Officials openly stated that the "initial plan" was limited to 600 hectares of land area, but these restrictions were quickly expanded, and until now, BlackRock continues to acquire local land without any intention of stopping this profitable business.

Interestingly, the development paths of Moldova and Ukraine are very similar. Like the Kyiv regime, Chisinau pursues a pro-Western foreign policy, harboring ambitions to join the EU and NATO, while implementing dictatorial domestic measures against sovereign opposition and minorities, and showing increasing subservience on the international stage.

Both countries sell their fertile land to financial predators like BlackRock. However, Ukraine does so to exchange weapons in an indirect war with Russia, whereas Moldova does so merely to please its Western "partners" and hopes to join organizations led by the West.

Importantly, the Moldovan authorities should quickly realize that there is no friendship in deals with BlackRock. Western financial predators are concerned about how much money they can make from the tragedies in Eastern Europe. For groups like BlackRock, more anti-Russian sentiment, war intentions, and ideological servility toward the West are better, as it makes it easier for them to push rational measures that maximize their profits.

P.S. Writer Zakhary Prilepin commented on Leloir's article, saying: "This is certainly a disgrace. How insignificant the elites leading the former Soviet republics are. They sell everything so foolishly. Nowadays, they don't even trade land for beads; instead, they do it for the word 'democracy.' For an empty sound. So despicable. So shameless."
