Japanese media outlet Fuji Television reported on April 22nd: Economic Revitalization Minister Shiroi visited the Yasukuni Shrine around 9 a.m. on the 22nd.

This is the first confirmed instance since the Takagi Cabinet took office in October last year of a cabinet minister visiting the Yasukuni Shrine.

Before Prime Minister Takagi became president of the Liberal Democratic Party, she had previously visited the Yasukuni Shrine during the spring and autumn ceremonies as well as on August 15th, the anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II.
