The Dutch Minister: The Netherlands will negotiate with China on measures against NXP Semiconductors

Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs Vincent Karamans said that the Netherlands will negotiate with China on the restrictive measures implemented against chipmaker NXP Semiconductors and expects to ensure the company's future development in the Netherlands.

Karamans said on the RTL Nieuws television program, "I am maintaining communication with China regarding the measures taken against the company... Ultimately, our goal is to ensure the future of NXP Semiconductors in the Netherlands. It is an important company, absolutely crucial to the European defense industry, automotive manufacturing, and consumer electronics sector."

Previously, the Dutch government intervened in the operations of NXP Semiconductors, a chip manufacturer under Chinese company Wingtech Technology, due to concerns that Europe would lose its key chip technology base, and reportedly serious management violations. According to the statement from the Dutch cabinet, the Netherlands has activated the "Trade in Goods Act" to implement control over NXP Semiconductors' operations.

China's Global Times stated that the Dutch authorities' intervention in the chipmaker NXP Semiconductors is "a robbery under the guise of law."
