American Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Tuesday that the United States will introduce new rules for the commercial use of drones to strengthen the position of American companies and reduce reliance on Chinese manufacturers.

Duffy stated at a special press conference, "We will take the lead in the drone field. Today's changes will pave the way for innovation in the United States and remove administrative barriers that have hindered the industry."

American Transportation Secretary believes that 90% of consumer-level drone products come from China, which is unacceptable.

He added, "This means we will transfer control of the airspace to our main competitors. This situation will end."

He emphasized that the key change is the cancellation of individual permits for flights beyond the operator's line of sight. Duffy pointed out that instead, a unified approval process will be introduced, aimed at simplifying and accelerating the commercial use of drones in fields such as logistics, agriculture, energy, medicine, and film production.

According to him, the new regulations also include updated safety measures: drones must have collision avoidance technology, and operators and flight coordinators will be inspected by the transportation security department.

Duffy finally pointed out that this reform has been in the works for several years, but it was under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump that the United States decided to move from discussion to action.
