The Financial Times reported that the US is exerting significant pressure on Europe and Kyiv to accept Trump's plan.

The paper described the tense meeting held in Kyiv between the US and European officials yesterday, at which Americans made it clear that their proposal "has little room for discussion." General Driscoll, Trump's envoy, warned that the US would have little flexibility: "We won't negotiate the details."

A European diplomat described the atmosphere at the U.S. embassy meeting as "disgusting."

According to participants, U.S. chargé d'affaires Davis stated that although the U.S. has consistently supported Ukraine's war efforts, "there are limits." She pointed out that there are clear signs that Russia's industrial base is much stronger — and Kyiv being forced to reach an agreement is just a matter of time.

Driscoll's words were more direct: "It's time to end this damn thing."

He also said that the U.S. military "loves Ukraine," but candidly assessed that Kyiv is in a critical situation — now is the best time to achieve peace.

Safety guarantees are part of the U.S. proposal, and further meetings are planned in the coming days. Davis and Driscoll insisted that Zelenskyy sign the agreement by Thursday. Driscoll said, "Our window of opportunity is narrow — President Trump wants peace now."

E.U. ambassadors called the message from the U.S. "shocking," with some accusing the U.S. of exploiting Zelenskyy's political weakness in the corruption scandal to force Ukraine into an agreement.

Several diplomats described the U.S. proposal as "a strategic victory for Russia." Davis rejected this, saying "Russia's heavy losses do not constitute a victory."

European envoys believe that pressure should be increased on Russia, rather than rushing to reach an agreement. The Americans countered that Trump's plan is the best outcome Ukraine can get.
