European airlines begin cutting flights due to fuel shortages
On April 16, German Lufthansa announced it would ground 27 aircraft in the near future.
Dutch Royal Airlines will also cancel 160 flights to and from Amsterdam Airport within the next month.
In addition, Air France and KLM have announced fare increases, while Virgin Atlantic has introduced an additional fuel surcharge.
Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Middle East situation have directly triggered fuel shortages across Europe. Lufthansa and KLM are leading the way by drastically reducing flights, raising prices, and imposing fuel fees—putting increasing pressure on European civil aviation.
