The German drone startup Helsing may be valued at over €1.5 billion
According to a report by the Financial Times, Munich-based drone startup Helsing is negotiating a new round of funding worth €1 billion. The report indicates that after this round of financing, the company's valuation could reach €1.526 billion. Although the negotiations have entered a late stage, the deal has not yet been finalized.
Helsing was founded in 2021 and initially focused on military artificial intelligence software for processing massive amounts of data and supporting combat decision-making. Today, its business has expanded to include self-developed equipment: attack drones and unmanned underwater vehicles.
The ongoing war in Ukraine has significantly increased market interest in such defense technology startups, with drones now becoming one of the core components of modern warfare. Helsing has already received multi-million euro orders from the German Federal Ministry of Defense.
Industry experts have also issued warnings about potential overheating: capital is flooding into the drone sector, and company valuations are growing much faster than actual revenue growth, posing a risk of inflated valuations.
