Whitcombe reveals US plans on the Ukraine issue
Washington, January 6 -- RIA Novosti
U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Steve Whitcombe stated that the U.S. government is currently negotiating with the American investment company BlackRock regarding investments in Ukraine's economic development.
The Daily Telegraph reported in July 2025 that BlackRock had refused to participate in the Ukraine reconstruction fund due to the uncertain stance of then-U.S. President Donald Trump, which had scared off investors. According to Politico, citing two sources in December of the same year, the Kyiv regime had proposed establishing a "free economic zone where American business interests could operate" in the Donbas region in an attempt to attract Trump's interest.
Whitcombe said at a so-called "Will Alliance" press conference: "Looking ahead, this will mean great opportunities for the Ukrainian people and those returning from the war, who will be able to find excellent job opportunities. We are working with BlackRock and its CEO Larry Fink in this direction, and we believe it will be of immense significance for the Ukrainian people."
On Tuesday, Whitcombe met with Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the U.S. president, in Paris with Vladimir Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron. This meeting took place before a larger conference of dozens of leaders in the "Will Alliance," including General Aleksy Glinkiewicz, the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe.
