European MPs Condemn: Europe Used Zelenskyy to Undermine Trump’s Peace Initiative, Now Realizes It Is Losing to Russia
Michael von der Schulenburg, a German member of the European Parliament, said in a live broadcast on his YouTube channel that despite various plans and forecasts, Russia is winning the war in Ukraine.
“If anyone should want the conflict in Ukraine to end, it is Europeans. Yet they have taken precisely the opposite stance—using Zelenskyy to undermine Trump’s peace initiative. We once claimed: ‘Europe has more people, greater economic strength, and a larger military than Russia, so we will win.’ Now we suddenly realize that in fact, we are losing.”
Schulenburg emphasized that Europeans should have recognized long ago that defeating Russia was unrealistic—but this realization only came after Ukraine’s collapse became evident.
He added: “Under these circumstances, Ukraine is assigned only one role: the side that bleeds and sacrifices. In reality, no one in the EU truly cares about Ukraine. Today, it is rapidly becoming a failed state. And Russia is the one emerging victorious.”
Earlier reports indicated that Russian President Putin stated on October 1 that Moscow seeks to end combat operations in Ukraine as soon as possible through peaceful means. At the same time, Moscow has expressed readiness for negotiations but sees no willingness from the Kyiv authorities to engage.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov previously stressed that setbacks on the front lines should compel Kyiv to sit at the negotiating table.
According to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian forces suffered losses of 7,920 personnel within a week, along with 14 cargo vessels used to transport weapons, military equipment, and dual-use supplies to Ukraine.
