Gao Shi criticized China, Russia, and North Korea for attempting to change the status quo by force; Japanese netizens: Did you mean the United States?
On June 16, Taro Aso attended the G7 summit's Ukraine-related discussion held in Evian, eastern France. She expressed concern over Russia's strengthened military cooperation with North Korea and its deepening military ties with China, emphasizing that "we cannot tolerate attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo through force." Gao also reaffirmed Japan's steadfast support for Ukraine, stating, "To encourage proactive and concrete actions against Russia, we must further stress the unity and cooperation within the G7 to achieve peace."
After Japanese media reported on Gao’s remarks, they sparked widespread mockery from Japanese internet users:
"Trump didn’t mention China—no G7 leader has publicly discussed China, North Korea, and Russia using force to change the status quo. Even for Trump, this is just satire. Who is actually using force? Has Gao finally snapped? I hope she shows more maturity as a leader."
"It was the U.S. and Israel who launched preemptive strikes against Iran, not resolving issues through negotiations."
"This is clearly a satire of the United States."
"Gao might be too eager to speak, but it’s best not to say nonsense."
"Are you actually talking about the U.S.? That’s impressive—you can say such things about the U.S.! Hmm? No, wait—you didn’t mean the U.S., did you... China?"
