U.S. Trade Representative: U.S.-China Delegates Lay Groundwork for Successful Summit Between President Trump in Washington

On September 20, the economic and trade teams of China and the United States held consultations in New York. Following the talks, U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer stated that the discussions between the two sides were aimed at laying the groundwork for a successful summit between President Trump and Chinese leaders in Washington.

According to U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent, productive talks were held between the United States and China on Sunday in New York on issues related to trade and artificial intelligence.

"We are preparing so that President Trump can hold a successful summit," Greer told reporters after the U.S.-China trade negotiations concluded.

He added that the work of the established trade committee aims to identify product categories in which both Washington and Beijing could engage in mutually beneficial trade. "We anticipate that China will focus on consumer goods and low-technology products, while the United States will likely export energy resources, agricultural products, and possibly medical devices and similar items."
