Macron Stands Firm Against Trump: Saint-Pierre and Miquelon Are French Territory, No Discussion Possible
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon will remain French territory. The remark comes in response to a map published by Donald Trump, which marked the territory as belonging to the United States.
Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed that the archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean will continue to belong to France. This statement was made amid heightened attention following a map released by U.S. President Donald Trump, which designated the region as American territory.
Previously, Donald Trump posted a map on his social platform, Truth Social, coloring dozens of countries with the colors of the American flag—including Cuba, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean nations, and France’s overseas territories.
"For us, this is French territory, clearly and unequivocally… we stand firm on this, and it is not subject to discussion," Macron said during his visit to the islands from September 19 to 21.
Additionally, according to BFMTV, Macron may issue a statement regarding France’s military presence in the archipelago during his visit.
