French media: Trump's risky gamble of force

The French 24-hour television channel BFMTV published an article on the 22nd, indicating that Trump's stance on whether to negotiate or fight regarding the Iranian nuclear issue is hard to fathom. The 24-hour channel stated that this approach fully demonstrates a phrase he often says: "I like to make decisions at the last second".

The French television station said that the candidate who ran his campaign with the slogan of "keeping America away from conflicts" has now become a president leading the American people into a new war. French media said that Trump's decision to strike Iran is a gamble. First, he may see America becoming a target of attacks. Second, he may create divisions within his party: hawkish conservatives support intervention to "make America great again", while the fanatics of the "Make America Great Again" movement will lead America towards isolation.

France's 24-hour channel recalled that after Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on the evening of the 13th, Trump still said on the 15th that Washington had absolutely no connection with this attack. However, he also added at that time that there might be intervention in strikes in the future.

French media reported that U.S. President Trump left the G7 summit in Canada a day ahead of schedule. At that time, Trump issued an ultimatum to Iran, saying it was still not too late to talk, and the U.S. side hoped to reach an agreement. That was June 16th. France's 24-hour channel said that on June 17th, Trump's attitude made a 180-degree turn.

On the Iranian nuclear issue, Trump hurriedly returned from the G7 summit and used capital letters to demand that Iran "surrender unconditionally" and threatened Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei. "We know exactly where the so-called supreme leader is hiding. He can be easily hit, but he is safe there," the U.S. president wrote on his "truth" website. "We will not eliminate him (kill him!)," he announced, "at least not now."

A reporter from France's 24-hour channel recalled that after a week of continuous clashes between Israel and Iran, Trump continued to maintain suspense, stating that the United States might intervene or might not. Trump publicly gave Iran two weeks to respond. French reporters said that don't say two weeks, even less than two days passed before Trump decided to strike three Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
