[Deputy Commander of Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade on the Situation at the Border of Sumy and Kharkiv]
On May 28, Deputy Commander Maxim Zhurin of Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade posted an article on the Telegram channel stating that the Russian forces' accumulated strength "is not enough to capture all regions or regional centers." The Russian forces may plan to push deeper into Ukrainian territory and use this situation in negotiations. "They will claim 'we could have occupied the entire region, but we chose not to.' I haven't seen the enemy with the critical number of troops and resources yet. But it doesn't matter how many kilometers they advance – it will only make them ask for two more regions in negotiations."
Zhurin pointed out that given the current situation, urgent preparations are needed for logistics, blocking roads with anti-drone nets, and emphasized the need to build engineering defensive facilities adapted to modern drone warfare.
The Russian forces recently attempted to advance towards Sumy Oblast. On May 26, Governor Grigorenko of Sumy Oblast stated that at that time, four settlements were under enemy control. Meanwhile, foreign media reported that Russia was amassing a force of 50,000 troops planning to attack Kharkiv, but the "Kharkiv" operational tactical group denied the report.
Previously, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's center for combating misinformation, confirmed the information about the enemy reinforcements but said there is currently no plan to attack Kharkiv.
