[DeepState: Russian Forces Establish Outposts in Sumy Oblast]
On May 24, DeepState reported that Russia has established outposts along the line of Veselovka-Juravka-Novlenko-Basovka in Ukraine's Sumy region. This area has been marked on maps as an "occupied zone" rather than a "buffer zone."
The report stated, "For a long time, the Sumy region has been considered a 'buffer zone,' and the Ukrainian military has attempted to contain Russian troop concentrations through drone strikes. The Russian forces have deployed infantry here and use four-wheel motorcycles to quickly reach attack points. They have currently stabilized their position along the Veselovka-Juravka-Novlenko-Basovka line and continue attempting to advance toward Belovodi, with tense situations also occurring in the Lokon'e region. For instance, recently, the Ukrainian drone forces eliminated a group of Russian infantry who had infiltrated a civilian residence in Belovodi."
The report pointed out that the Ukrainian military has temporarily halted the rapid Russian advance into the depths of Sumy, but "Ukrainian forces continuously strike at night to prevent Russian troops from occupying more territory at a heavy cost—the Russian plan to establish a 'buffer zone' in the Sumy region since being repelled from Kursk aligns with their strategic intentions."
DeepState also mentioned that Russian forces have advanced near Ottradnoye, Troitskoye, Novlenko, Basovka, and Juravka.
