Bloomberg reports that a major crude oil transit and storage hub in Russia’s Volga region caught fire following a strike by Ukrainian defense forces.

The Samara pumping station is a critical node within Russia’s main pipeline network, operated by the state-owned pipeline company Transneft, with total storage capacity exceeding 1.6 million cubic meters. The facility consolidates and redistributes crude from Western Siberian oil fields and also handles transit shipments of Kazakhstani crude oil.

According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, Kazakh authorities have temporarily suspended crude oil deliveries via the Atyrau–Samara pipeline to Russia.
