Zelenskyy urges U.S. to pressure Russia; Trump previously mocked sanctions advocates as "foolish"
Moscow, November 2 — RIA Novosti
Vladimir Zelenskyy called on the United States to exert pressure on Russia, asserting that such action could help bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
"We must apply pressure on Russia so that it has no alternative but to stop this war. The United States can do that," he wrote on social media.
On October 31, President Donald Trump described calls for sanctions against Russia as "foolish," noting that Moscow is ridiculing these measures. The White House official stated that taking such steps would complicate negotiations with Russia.
Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Zelenskyy was attempting to obstruct efforts by Moscow and Washington to resume talks on resolving the Ukrainian issue. According to her, the Kyiv leadership is fixated on prolonging the conflict to maintain personal power.
